Increasing Community Engagement in Townsville Coastal Catchments for Biodiversity Project |
Short Title: Bluewater Creek |
Bluewater Creek Catchment Management and Riparian Zone Restoration |
Location: Bluewater Creek catchment and riparian zone |
Organisation: Bluewater Catchment Landcare Inc. |
Project Summary: The Bluewater Creek catchment has three distinct 'rural' land uses: broad scale grazing, protected areas (National Park) and rural residential or peri-urban blocks. The catchment would benefit from a coordinated approach to the management of the Bluewater Creek riparian corridor inclusive of the peri-urban areas. In addition Cyclone Yasi has caused damage to the riparian vegetation allowing exotic species to become established in the understorey. Work is required to reduce the extent of exotic species and encourage natural regeneration of native species. |
