Increasing Community Engagement in Townsville Coastal
Catchments for Biodiversity Project |
Short
Title: Bohle River Strategy |
Title: Bohle River Connections and Riparian Management Strategy |
Location: Bohle River catchment |
Organisation: Creek to Coral |
Project Summary: Location: The Lower Bohle River catchment (146 square kilometres as per the Townsville Water Quality Improvement Plan (WQIP)) Area: For the (Lower) Bohle River Connections and Riparian Management Strategy ~1,600 hectares - Dalrymple Road to the coast plus Saunders Creek. The Bohle River is one of the few major connecting corridors in the Townsville urban environmental infrastructure network. The Bohle area is at the urban/peri-urban interface and as a result of its location is under increasing development pressure. Organisations that have been caring for sites in the Bohle catchment recognise the need to take a more strategic approach to the protection of the Bohle River catchment connections and management of the riparian and aquatic habitats that contribute to the values of the Bohle system. |
